NEMO Equipment Recalls Stargaze™ Recliner Chairs Due to Fall Hazard;

Stargaze™ Recliner Chairs

Hazard:

The  straps on the chair seats can fail, posing a fall hazard.

Remedy:

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled chairs and contact NEMO Equipment for a free replacement chair.

Recalled Product:

This recall involves the Stargaze™ Recliner, Stargaze™ Recliner Low, and Stargaze™ Recliner Luxury lifestyle camping chairs. These portable swinging and reclining outdoor chairs have an aluminum frame and black and gray monofilament mesh seat, and weigh between five and seven pounds. They were sold in four colors: birch leaf green, graphite, verdigris (teal) and Sedona (red). They come in a black, padded carrying case, and are used as a portable seat for camping and outdoor activities. The model name is printed on the pocket on the inside right side of the seat. The NEMO name and logo is attached to the back of the seat as a stitched logo.

Incidents/Injuries:

There has been one report of a chair breaking. No injuries have been reported.

REI from October 2017 through December  2017 for between $170 to $220.

 

How to Determine if your Stargaze™ is a Recalled Model:

There are a few visual cues that can help you determine the difference between the recalled chairs and the new replacement chairs. First, look at the buckles that attach the chair seat to the frame of the chair. Second, look at the webbing that is attached to this buckle. The instructions below provide full details.

 

1. Locate the buckles that attach the chair seat to the chair frame.

Recalled Models:
  1. Buckle has a square-shaped design.
  2. Black sticker is present with the words “TOP” and “Slide to Unlock,” accompanied by two arrows. Underneath the sticker there are two NEMO logos stamped into the metal.
  3. Buckle is chrome-plated.

New Models:
  1. Buckle has a trapezoidal design with angled slots.
  2. There is no sticker. The NEMO logo and the word “TOP” are stamped directly into the metal.
  3. Buckle is not chrome-plated. It is natural metal and matte-finished.

2. Locate the webbing that is looped through the buckle in step one.

Recalled models:
    1. There is a single layer of webbing through each side of the buckle.

New Models:
  1. There are two layers of webbing through each side of the buckle. The interior layer is always black.
