NEMO is continually developing new pole technology to optimize our tents’ strength, wind resistance, interior volume, weight, and ease of setup. Innovation of pole supported tents goes beyond the poles themselves. We carefully develop every design feature and piece of hardware with the customer experience in mind.

DAC Featherlite® NSL poles use a sophisticated system to further reduce weight and increase strength at pole connection points. It is designed to connect different diameters of tent poles without additional parts or weak joints. The poles use a revolutionary jointing system where an expanded end of an insert tube is pressed into the inside of a main tube. Given the elasticity of high strength aluminum, the main tube grips the insert tube tightly and consistently. Featherlite® NSL poles use DAC’s GREEN™ anodization, which avoids the use of toxic heavy metals in the finishing process.

DAC Featherlite® poles are up to 15% lighter than aluminum poles of comparable strength. Additionally, Featherlite® poles are less susceptible to failure because pole linkages are based on extrusion instead of glued-in inserts. Without the extra insert piece, there is less chance of breakage. Featherlite® poles use DAC’s GREEN™ anodization, which avoids the use of toxic heavy metals in the finishing process.

The aluminum hubs at the front and rear of the tent allow multiple poles to intersect at a single point. This enables a unique pole architecture to be created that allows free-standing support while minimizing the total pole weight for the tent.
Available for: Obi™ Elite 1P, Obi™ 1P, Obi™ 2P
The Swivel Hub locks the poles together at a given intersection, but allows them to swivel freely. This makes the tent much stronger and resistant to wind forces.

The Intersection Hub locks the poles together at a given intersection and directly connects the poles to the tent body. This makes the tent much stronger and resistant to wind forces.

To secure the ends of ridge poles, Ball Caps™ are used in place of locking pole tips and grommets. The Ball Cap™ snaps onto an aluminum ball tip at the end of the ridge pole. To release the ridge pole from the Ball Cap™ simply twist the Ball Cap™ until the aluminum ball at the end of the ridge pole is released.

The unique shape of the DAC pole clips makes them easy to use and more durable than standard pole clips. Simply twist the clip to release the tent from the poles.

Variable diameter poles have different flexibility along their length. This allows us to steepen the walls of our tents and create more usable space.

A maximum volume to weight ratio was achieved using strategic controlled bends in the aluminum poles. Utilizing bends in just the right places, this pole set creates about one and a half times the volume of standard unbent pole sets of similar weight. Pre-bends are a very good way to increase your living space without increasing your burden on the trail.

Grommets are an easy way to secure pole end tips during tent setup. Since fabric tension can vary with the amount of moisture in the air, multiple grommets are mounted on a single anchor to allow for ease of setup. This ensures that a tent can be optimally tensioned at all humidity levels.

Special attachments on the ends of tent poles called Locking Pole Tips help keep poles seated in place when used with grommets. This feature is especially useful when setup of a tent requires multiple grommet anchors.

The DAC Jake’s Foot corner anchor system makes tent setup faster and easier. The main poles attach to the anchors by ball and socket. With the poles locked in place, setup is easy for a single person. Simply twist the Jake’s Foot to remove the pole.

The Jake’s Foot fly attachment creates a cantilever to pull the corners of the inner tent closer to the ground. The Jake’s Feet also allow you to set up your fly and poles without the inner tent to create a convenient tarp/shade shelter. Simply twist the fly attachment clip to remove the fly.

NEMO’s internal pole tents eliminate the need for any pole sleeves, clips, or extra hardware that can add ounces to your packed weight. Button snaps in the tent corners transfer loads directly to the ground, reduce fabric abrasion, and help seat the pole ends, preventing them from shifting.

Direct guyout access is a waterproof hooded opening on a rainfly that enables tent users to attach guyout lines directly to tent poles, resulting in much stronger anchors. Tents that have direct guyout access can withstand much higher wind loading.

Ditch your inner tent for a lightweight tarp structure created by your fly, poles, and footprint. This is ideal for a sunny day at the beach or on those backpacking trips where every ounce counts. Setup is simple with Jake’s Feet corner anchors and Velcro® wraps located on underside of the fly.

The mesh front door panel on Nano™ Elite can be unzipped and removed from the tent. The panel weighs 3.1 oz, so if you’re headed somewhere where you don’t need the mesh, you can save the extra weight.

Don’t clutter your sleeping space with odds and ends. Four individual gear pockets with integrated water bottle holders are just an arm’s reach away.

This clever design detail found on the floor of the optional Wedge™ inner tent allows a single support pole to pass through directly to the ground. This helps reduce abrasion at the point of loading. Due to its unique construction, the Pole Port™ is both weatherproof and insectproof.

Use the cord-lock to adjust the height of your gear loft for maximum versatility in your living space. The lowest position is ideal for storing gear on top of the loft. The highest position is ideal for getting the loft out of the way and for using the gear pockets on the underside of the loft.

The sides of certain NEMO tents can be guyed-out for extra lateral ventilation. Anchoring the vents enables the side walls to be lifted away from essential living space to increase the usable volume inside the tent. For Espri™ series tents, you can also use the convenient clips on the fly to attach directly to the side of the tent at these guy-out points. When you pull the fly, you will then also pull the side walls and expand the interior volume of the tent.

Using computer-aided modeling, we built catenary curves into the edges of tent panels. This method of patterning saves extra material and improves the tensioning of the tent.

Many of NEMO’s tents include watertight dry bags. Having your tent in a watertight stuff sack means it won’t take on water weight if it’s in your backpack while you’re hiking in the rain, or if it’s in your kayak when you roll your boat. Alternatively, if you have to pack your tent wet, it will help keep the rest of the gear in your pack dry.

This Rolls-Royce of stuff sacks makes packing up your tent a breeze. Compartments for the tent, poles, and stakes keep components separated--a handy feature when parts are dirty or wet. The mesh compartment allows fabrics to dry out even when packed. Simply roll up the stuff sack starting from the end, and use the quick release buckles and compression straps to fasten the compact bundle together. Strategic webbing loops allow the sack to be hung from a tree or to be used as a camp organizer.

NEMO tents include a special pocket for your headlamp with a light diffusing fabric. Place your lamp in the pocket with the light facing towards the inside of the tent, and the Light Pocket™ will help cast an even glow throughout the tent interior.

Plugging our measurements into computer modeling programs allows us to optimize various aspects of the tent without building completely new prototypes. Once our design is in the computer, we can alter the length, the height, or any other dimension to discover how it will effect the overall shape of the tent.

DAC’s J-stakes have many innovative features. The unique cross section of the J-stake has a widened center and tapered ends. This allows the stake to bear a considerable amount of force for its size and be anchored securely while minimizing its weight. Usability is increased with smooth edges on the top of the stake that protect users' feet and a deadman groove that makes the J-stake usable even when buried in sand or snow. J-stakes use DAC’s GREEN™ anodization, which avoids the use of toxic heavy metals in the finishing process.
