Summer Corn

Summer corn is in season in the Northeast, and it is sweet and delicious. But out West, summer corn is an entirely different thing.

Packing layers is key as you start the hike wearing this:

And then add a few layers like this:

By the time you set up base camp, you’re back to your winter gear.

Bad for Running, Worse for Fighting

NEMO friend and photographer Jed Conklin, is a man of many talents: he is a true outdoorsman in every sense with an unbelievable eye for visual storytelling.

Every time we link up with Jed, he’s deeper and deeper into Ironman training/racing. He’s also a sponsored athlete for Combat Flipflops, a company making custom flip flops that are being produced out of a factory in Afghanistan. The goal is to keep sustaining the local economy after U.S. troops pull out in 2014. Check out some of the really funky designs and totally unique manufacturing concept. Cheers to Jed on the Ironman and for representing such a cool company.

LongTreks Morocco – Episode 8: Blowing Winds

We’re back with the next installment of LongTreks Morocco. An amazing tailwind gets the sporting sails out. But with great speed comes great road rash (Warning: avert your eyes if fresh road rash is not your cup of tea here).

A stiff headwind, a steady does of car road rage, and noisy winds at night all conspire together to slow the team down. Sleep deprived, they push on towards snow-capped peaks.

Q&A With NEMO Founder Cam Brensinger

Last week, Cam was interviewed by a local radio station, WTPL in Concord, NH. The Commissioner of the New Hampshire Department of Resources and Economic Development (DRED), George Bald, and show host Jack Health, spoke with Cam about how the company got started, why New Hampshire is a perfect location for NEMO, and the need to get outside and unplug.

Radio Interview

The state’s tourism department recently unveiled a new ad campaign building off the infamous ‘Live Free or Die’ motto, titled ‘Live Free And…’ left for the user to fill in the blank. Apparently, New Hampshire has an image problem – while the rest of the country thinks of lobsters from Maine and cows in Vermont, they were coming up short when identifying with New Hampshire. The new tagline is meant to inspire people to think about all of the different activities you can do here. What do you think of when you think of New Hampshire?
