NEMO is a strange place. A job at NEMO is probably different from any job you’ve ever had. It’s probably a lot like the job you’ve always wished you could have.

Remember the feeling of camaraderie that comes with sharing an epic adventure with your best friends? Have you ever turned to a friend while walking in steps you were quite sure had never been taken and remarked that there was absolutely nowhere you would rather be — nothing you would rather be doing? That’s the feeling of working at NEMO.

Like any adventure worth telling stories about, it isn’t always easy. The NEMO team is a small group traveling unsupported over new ground, driven by talent, passion and ambition, depending on each other, making bold moves and taking big risks. Position Available: R&D Internship


The NEMO Equipment R&D department is offering an unpaid intern position for a student or recent grad who wants a chance to see and be a part of the inner workings of a product design team focused on new and innovative outdoor gear concepts and development. NEMO’s small design team is working on dozens of products at any given time for different users from ultra light backpackers to campfire friends to elite soldiers. It is a dynamic working environment and an exciting atmosphere around the NEMO prototyping table.

NEMO was founded in 2002 with the commitment to bring the highest level of design and engineering to the world of outdoor adventure sports. We are a small, authentic, fast growing company run by people with a genuine and deep passion for what we do. Design and development is done in-house, and we take full ownership of what we produce. At NEMO, we are constantly evolving, improving ourselves, our process, and ultimately our products. Expect to work hard, have lots of responsibility, and plenty of fun too. Bring your mountain bike, surfboard, and rock shoes. Our office is located in an historic mill in the charming town of Dover, NH, 20 minutes from great surfing, an hour from the White Mountains, and a little more than an hour to Boston. Dogs are welcome.  

The right applicant for this position is passionate about design and the outdoors. They work hard and play hard, and want to be surrounded by like-minded people. They are independent, responsible, knowledgeable about outdoor products, and have a desire to learn and grow. Their primary role will be to support the design team in creating a powerful new line up of products.

This is a unique opportunity to be at the nexus of NEMO. It’s a chance to understand how a small product driven company operates, to get a better understanding about whether product design is the path you want to choose, and to see what all the excitement is about working in the outdoor industry.

Applicants must have basic computer skills and MS office knowledge. Product design experience, sewing, model making, drawing, CAD skills are a bonus.
