Working at NEMO

NEMO is a strange place. A job at NEMO is probably different from any job you've ever had. It's probably a lot like the job you've always wished you could have.

Remember the feeling of camaraderie that comes with sharing an epic adventure with your best friends? Have you ever turned to a friend while walking in steps you were quite sure had never been taken and remarked that there was absolutely nowhere you would rather be -- nothing you would rather be doing? That's the feeling of working at NEMO.

Like any adventure worth telling stories about, it isn't always easy. The NEMO team is a small group traveling unsupported over new ground, driven by talent, passion and ambition, depending on each other, making bold moves and taking big risks. For the right person, it's about the most fun you'll ever be paid to have. It's not really like a job at all.

NEMO eagerly accepts applications for all open positions. Please see the positions listed below. If we don't have the opening you are looking for but your heart is in the outdoor industry, we also recommend checking the Outdoor Industry Association classifieds.

Design Engineer Intern

NEMO Equipment, Inc. is one of the leading new brands in the outdoor sporting goods industry. With over 50 patents pending and awards from ID Magazine, Backpacker, TIME Magazine, and many others, NEMO has proven to have the highest caliber of design and creative innovation.

The company is looking for a new engineering/design intern to add to its small, close-knit team. This person will have a broad range of skills, with exceptional mechanical aptitude and creativity. A great personality and a very sharp mind are a must: basically NEMO is looking for a flip-flop wearing bohemian with a rocket scientist mind and professional approach to their work. This job has a lot of independence and responsibility. You'll need to manage projects effectively on your own, keep things organized and be diligent and meticulous in your work. NEMO holds a high standard but when the job is done, unlike a larger company, you'll have the satisfaction of knowing it was almost entirely your own creation.

Everyone at NEMO is intensely passionate about design, the outdoors and adventure. If you want to hide in a cubicle or need to leave work behind at 5pm, you probably won't like it here. NEMO's office is an open and lively place, with funky music, custom furniture and lots of colors and gear strewn everywhere. We're about 1 hour from surfing, 5 minutes from great mountain biking, 1.5 hours from the White Mountains, an hour from skiing and 45 minutes from Boston. There's rock climbing in every direction and some of the best ice climbing in North America a couple hours north. The right person will love this job! Bring your rock shoes, skateboard and sketch book.

Some of the specific responsibilities and skills that will be part of your job:

- Helping to design, engineer, and style new products
- Contributing to product brainstorming sessions
- Designing and setting up new test equipment
- Creating and implementing test procedures
- Strategizing and designing POP and POS displays
- Designing new catalogs, advertisements and website/blog updates
- Planning and shooting videos
- Photo editing
- Generally making a positive contribution to the office culture
- Joining on office adventures such as surf sessions, trips to the rock gym, to VT for ice climbing or to one of our nearby mountain biking haunts

Software expertise required:

- Solid Works
- MS Office

Software expertise optional:

- Adobe Creative Suite
- Rhino or other 3D modeling software

Spring and Summer opportunities available. To apply, please send your resume, a few images of your best work and a short cover letter to Connie at summit@nemoequipment.com. Please understand that we can only respond to the most promising candidates and we will do this as quickly as possible.
