Working at NEMO

NEMO is a strange place. A job at NEMO is probably different from any job you've ever had. It's probably a lot like the job you've always wished you could have.

Remember the feeling of camaraderie that comes with sharing an epic adventure with your best friends? Have you ever turned to a friend while walking in steps you were quite sure had never been taken and remarked that there was absolutely nowhere you would rather be -- nothing you would rather be doing? That's the feeling of working at NEMO.

Like any adventure worth telling stories about, it isn't always easy. The NEMO team is a small group traveling unsupported over new ground, driven by talent, passion and ambition, depending on each other, making bold moves and taking big risks. For the right person, it's about the most fun you'll ever be paid to have. It's not really like a job at all.

Design Engineer

NEMO is looking to add another designer to its team. This person should have an impressive range of skills from ideation to CAD modeling to project management. Experience as a designer in the outdoor industry is a plus, but not nearly as important as raw talent, ambition and a passion for adventure. The best suited candidate will have the mechanical aptitude and discipline of an engineer and the creativity and aesthetic sensibility of a designer.

This position is all about inventing the next generation of technology for the outdoor industry. NEMO has already made a name for itself with its unique and highly innovative shelters. You will play a vital role in helping NEMO expand its product lines and bring the next round of innovation to market.

Expect to work hard, have lots of responsibility and plenty of fun too. Bring your mountain bike and rock shoes. This is a job you will love. The work atmosphere is family-like, so fitting in on a personal level is a must.


Specific Skills

NEMO is a small, but fast growing company. Your job is likely to change and evolve as the company changes and evolves, but the main responsibilities will include:

- Product ideation and brainstorming

- Concept development

- Product design and styling

- CAD Modeling and prototyping

- Sourcing and working closely with outside manufacturing

- Designing and executing test procedures

- Researching and developing new materials and technologies

- Managing the NEMO Materials Library

To get this job, you’re going to need brains, creativity, passion, experience, lots of energy and enthusiasm and probably a well-worn pair of flip-flops and a photo album filled with shots of you adventuring in the backcountry.
